Conroe ISD provides students with exceptional opportunities to discover their strengths, pursue their interests, and prepare for what comes next. From rigorous academics and innovative career pathways to championship athletics and nationally recognized fine arts programs, students have access to experiences designed to challenge them both inside and outside the classroom.

Conroe ISD has a long tradition of excellence in University Interscholastic League academics, athletics, and fine arts, including nine UIL Lone Star Cup championships. In 2025-26, three Conroe ISD high schools finished among the top 15 schools in Texas in the Class 6A Lone Star Cup standings. District student-athletes and teams regularly compete for district, regional, and state championships across a wide range of sports.

Fine arts opportunities begin in the elementary grades and continue through award-winning programs in band, choir, orchestra, theatre, dance, and visual arts. In 2026, 31 Conroe ISD students earned the prestigious distinction of TMEA All-State Musician, placing them among the top student musicians in Texas. The District has also been recognized 13 times as one of the Best Communities for Music Education in the nation.

Students looking toward college and careers have access to extensive hands-on learning through Career and Technical Education. More than 25,000 Conroe ISD students in grades 7-12 participate in at least one CTE course, representing approximately 75% of students in those grades. Through industry certifications, internships, leadership organizations, specialized coursework, and real-world experiences, students can begin building their futures before they graduate.

The District has earned the highest recognition for transparency from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts for 11 consecutive years and has received an “A” rating for Superior Achievement under Texas’ School FIRST financial accountability system for 23 consecutive years.

Conroe ISD has also earned the Texas Association of School Business Officials Award of Excellence in Financial Management for four consecutive years, recognizing the District’s commitment to strong financial practices, accountability, and transparent reporting.

Travis Intermediate was originally built in 1926 as Crockett High School.

During the summer of 1928, a modern four-room wooden school was built for Union Grove Elementary. At the beginning of the 1929-1930 school term, all school buildings in the District were renamed for Texas heroes.
