A little about me…

8192015_110413_14.jpg
I was born and raised in the Houston area. After graduating from The Woodlands High School, I attended college at both The University of Texas in Austin and Sam Houston State University. I was a proud member of the Lady BearKat soccer team and graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts. I went on to work in the exciting field of graphic design and advertising for 4 years and then became certified to teach. I am entering my 9th year teaching art, my second here in Conroe ISD at Hailey. I began in Alvin ISD at a 7-12 campus as the sole art teacher and moved to elementary level in 2010 to open a new school.

Besides loving all things art, I love being around my 2 daughters, my family, friends, and my 3 dogs.

It’s going to be a fun year full of lots of hands on learning and colorful adventures.
My Mission…
Children and art are a natural combination. Art happens when media and techniques are introduced and the results are as individual as the child.
I use a variety of techniques in my classroom and try to balance direct-line instruction with observation, painting techniques with free-expression and I attempt introduce a variety of lessons to ensure that every child’s creativity is nurtured.
If you should ever have any questions, comments or concerns, plus feel free to email me and I will respond as soon as possible.
Here’s to a wonderful school year!   -Miss Varner
